What is behind the next bend?

Trailbuster shows hazards and animals on your trail. Others who were there before you reported them. One map. Two buttons. One tap.

Free · No sign-up · No ads

A downhill biker and a snowboarder jump over a hole, a pig, a fence, a cow, a farmer and a street lamp.

Two buttons. Nothing more.

HAZARD

Stays in place.

Fallen tree, hole, falling rocks, ice, barrier. When another rider taps at the same place, the hazard is confirmed and stays visible for another 48 hours. After that, it becomes an echo.

  • ± 50 m radius
  • 48 h active
  • Confirming extends
ANIMAL

May be moving.

Cow, deer, dog, wildlife on the slope. A sighting is not a fixed place. So it fades fast.

  1. 0 to 60 min

  2. 1 to 3 h
    echo
  3. after 3 h

Built for gloves and potholes.

  1. Tap.

You see something. When you can stop for a second, you tap. No menu, no category, no dialog. A short “✓ Hazard reported”, done.

  2. Look ahead.

The map shows north up, with you in the middle. If you prefer, it turns with your direction of travel.

  3. Ping.

When a report comes within 100 m of you, you hear a short ping and the screen flashes. You see the direction and the distance. Once per report. No popup, no alarm.

Questions

What is Trailbuster?

Trailbuster is a radar for trails and slopes that runs in the browser. It shows hazards and animals that others reported near you. You report with one tap on HAZARD or ANIMAL. When a report comes within your radius, you hear a ping.

Does Trailbuster cost money?

No. Trailbuster is free. Reporting, seeing reports and the ping with direction and distance stay free. Later, Trailbuster+ can add comfort features. There is no price yet.

Do I need an account?

No. Open trailbuster.cc in the browser and start the radar. There is no sign-up and no login. Your browser keeps a random device ID, so that each rider counts once per report.

What happens with my location?

Your position stays on your phone while you use the radar. To show reports near you, the radar asks the server only for areas of about 1 km. Only a report sends a position. The server keeps the details of a report for 30 days. A radar session stores only the country.

How long does a report stay visible?

A hazard stays active for 48 hours after the last confirmation. An animal stays active for 60 minutes. After that, a report shows as an echo: a hazard for 3 more days, an animal until 3 hours after the sighting. An imported report can have its own end date.

Does no report mean the trail is clear?

No. Trailbuster shows reports. No report does not mean the trail is clear or safe. Reports can be wrong or out of date. Always look ahead and ride at a speed that lets you stop.

When does the ping sound?

When an active report comes within your radar radius, you hear a short ping and the screen flashes. You see the type, the distance and the direction. The radius is 100 m. In the settings, you can choose 200, 400 or 800 m. A report pings again only after you were clearly outside the radius. Echoes do not ping.

Does Trailbuster work with the screen locked?

No. Trailbuster runs in the browser. The radar and the ping work only while the page is open and the screen is on. While the radar is open, Trailbuster keeps the screen on, if your phone allows it. You can switch this off in the settings.

Can I use Trailbuster in winter, and for avalanches?

Yes, on slopes the same two buttons work: hazard and animal. Trailbuster has no information about avalanches or snow conditions. Before you go, check the bulletin of your official avalanche service, in Switzerland the SLF.

How do I invite friends?

Open the radar and tap 👥 at the top. You get your own code with four characters, a link and a QR code. Share the link or let your friends scan the code. An invitation counts when your friend used the radar for 5 minutes and moved 300 m. Trailbuster shows how many riders joined with your link.

What is an echo?

An echo is a report that is no longer active. It shows where something was reported in the last hours or days. Echoes look paler, show no counter and do not ping. When there are many, the radar shows only the newest 20.

What do I do about a wrong report?

Do not confirm it. A report that nobody confirms ends by itself: an animal after 60 minutes, a hazard after 48 hours. You cannot delete a report in the app yet.

Where do the reports come from?

From riders who use Trailbuster, and from other data sources. Both show the same way on the radar. The page Data sources lists the map data and the sources that require a credit.

Ride out. Report what you see.

Trailbuster runs right in the browser: on your phone on the handlebar, in your jacket pocket or on a tablet. Report when you can stop for a second. One tap is enough.
